Enhancing Recreational Cannabis Products with Terpenes and Cannabinoids

by Douglas Suraci

Cannabis is a complex plant containing over 100 different cannabinoids and a vast array of terpenes which are responsible for its unique flavors and aromas. The combination of different cannabinoids and terpenes found in cannabis contributes to what is known as the entourage effect. This effect is believed to enhance the benefits and user experience of the plant, as each compound works synergistically with the others to produce a range of different effects.

Within the recreational cannabis industry, some companies are using this knowledge of the entourage effect to develop specific, targeted effects in their products. At Nowave, we’ve used this to develop a line of THC edible gummies using different blends of minor cannabinoids and terpenes to produce a range of effects for our customers that can fit into many different lifestyles.

Terpenes are organic compounds found in many plants, including cannabis, that give them their distinctive aromas and flavors. There are over 200 different terpenes found in cannabis, each with its unique properties and effects. Some of the most common terpenes found in cannabis include Myrcene, Limonene, Pinene, and Beta Caryophyllene.

Cannabinoids are the active compounds found in the cannabis plant that interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system to produce a arrange of effects. The most well-known cannabinoid is delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is responsible for the plant’s psychoactive effects. Other cannabinoids found in cannabis include cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), and cannabigerol (CBG). Each minor has unique properties and effects, and the combination of different minors and terpenes in cannabis can produce a range of different effects on the body and mind.

At Nowave, our approach to product development is based on the latest research into the entourage effect and the properties of different terpenes and minors. By carefully selecting specific combinations of these compounds, we’re able to develop products that produce targeted effects and deliver a consistent experience to our customers.

When developing our THC gummy edibles, we use a blend of botanical terpenes with specific cannabis minors to create a range of different effects in the products. For example, our “Offline” sleep THC gummies contain a combination of the minors CBD for body relaxation and CBN for deep mind relaxation and the terpenes linalool (also found in lavender), myrcene, and beta-pinene which, when combined, enhance the feeling of deep restfulness.

In contrast, our “Limelight” focus THC gummies contain the minors CBD to relax the body and CBG to focus the mind in addition to the terpene blend of beta-pinene, d-limonene, and ocimene which, when combined, enhance the feeling of energized concentration.

The use of different combinations of cannabis minors and terpenes is an exciting area of research for the recreational cannabis industry that allows us to tap into the amazing possibilities of the cannabis plant and bring those possibilities directly to our customers. At Nowave, we hope to be leading the way in developing products that harness the full potential of this complex plant and offer users a range of different effects to suit their varying needs. As the industry keeps evolving, we will continue to use this approach to develop new and innovative products that deliver more and more personalized cannabis experiences.
